The first meeting between these two sides ended in disappointment for Tottenham despite drawing with the Saints at Saint Mary’s. Southampton spent a large part of the game down to ten men and that game has to be considered a missed opportunity and two points dropped.
A win for Tottenham this evening will see them move above Arsenal, level with Man Utd and just one point below West Ham, however, Spurs would still have games in hand on both United and the Hammers.
Points on the board are more valuable than games in hand and therefore it is imperative that Tottenham collect all three points this evening and not waste this opportunity to press the advantage they have in the top-four race.
Spurs enter this game with four wins and a draw from their last five Premier League home games while Southampton has one win, one draw and three losses from their last five Premier League away matches.
