Both sides are desperate for the points, Spurs need them to maintain their push for a Champions League spot while the Toffees need all the points they can muster to remain a Premier League side.
It can also be argued that Stellini is looking to lay down a marker in his bid to make the Tottenham job his own. It will also be very interesting to see how Spurs play, will we see the end of the turgid football that was synonymous with his predecessor, Antonio Conte?
Everton is always a tough opponent on their home patch, no matter their league position and you just know that the Goodison faithful will create a very hostile atmosphere for the Tottenham players to contend with.
Some statistical information courtesy of the BBC
In the last 20 Premier League games against Tottenham, Everton has won only once, while drawing nine and losing 10. On the other hand, Tottenham is undefeated in their last nine visits to Goodison Park, winning three and drawing six.
Everton has won five of their six Premier League games this season at Goodison Park, with all three home wins under Sean Dyche coming from a 1-0 scoreline. They are aiming to achieve a feat they have not accomplished since 1991-92 by winning home fixtures against both Arsenal and Tottenham in a single season. However, under Dyche’s leadership, they have conceded 12 goals in eight games, with only Nottingham Forest conceding more (14) since his first game in charge. Abdoulaye Doucoure has been involved in Everton’s last four Premier League goals, scoring two and assisting two.
Tottenham is struggling away from home, as they are winless in their last five away games in all competitions, losing four and drawing one. They have conceded 40 goals in the league this season, the same number as the entire last season, with still ten games to play. The team has only kept two clean sheets in their seven away games against teams in the bottom half of the table. However, they have scored the most number of headed goals (14) in the league, with Harry Kane contributing nine of them. Kane has scored 14 Premier League goals against Everton, with only Leicester conceding more (18).
