February could be a defining month for Tottenham in the Premier League, they will probably either finish it still very much in the top-four race or cast adrift and with 15 points up for grabs, it is imperative that they exit the month with as many points as possible.
Spurs start their Premier League program in February with two home games on the bounce against Southampton and Wolves followed by three road games against Man City, Burnley and Leeds United.
On the face of it there are four very winnable games and one extremely difficult one, here is a breakdown of how I see February panning out.
Tottenham v Southampton 9th February
We should have beaten them at their ground and it was disappointing to come away with just a draw, however, I doubt the Saints will as tough a nut to crack this time around and I cannot see anything less than a win here. – 3 Points
Tottenham v Wolves 13th February
Wolves are a much-improved side and very difficult to break down, however, Harry Kane is coming back into form, Heung Son-min will almost certainly be back and I trust our forward line to penetrate the Wolves defences and claim a narrow home win. – 3 Points
Man City v Tottenham 19th February
Hard to see us getting anything from this game. City is simply too good for most teams to compete with, especially on their home ground and while they have been beaten at the Etihad, I just cannot see us coming away with anything. – 0 Points
Burnley v Tottenham 23rd February
The rescheduled snowed off game. I was very confident back then and I am just as confident today. Burnley is woeful and if we do not beat them at Turf Moor then our top-four chances are probably dead in the water. 3 Points
Leeds United v Tottenham 26th February
Leeds can be good on their day but even then their defence will leak goals as if it is a fashionable thing to do. I cannot see anything less than three points in this game for Spurs. United may well get through our own defence and will give us a run for our money but we really should be able to outscore them, even at their ground. – 3 Points
Conclusion
As you can read above, I am confident that we will pick up at least 12 points in February and while there are never easy games in the Premier League, we will only beat the likes of Man Utd, West Ham and Arsenal to a top-four spot if we dispatch teams at the level of Southampton, Wolves, Burnley and Leeds United.
