According to a recent report in the Irish Independent, several clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, Brentford, and Brighton & Hove Albion, are keeping a close eye on Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher as they consider strengthening their squad ahead of the new season.
Kelleher has been serving as a backup to Alisson Becker at Anfield for a few years, and with limited opportunities to prove himself on the field this season, the Irish international may be looking for a move to secure more playing time.
Kelleher has made only three senior appearances across all competitions in the 2022-23 season, and each of these starts has been in cup competitions. Although Kelleher was given a chance to start Liverpool’s EFL Cup campaign, their journey came to a swift end with a loss to Manchester City in the fourth round.
In the Premier League and Champions League, Alisson remains Liverpool’s undisputed number-one goalkeeper, making it tough for Kelleher to get any playing time.
Given his talent and potential, Kelleher may be a valuable addition to any team looking for a reliable and skilled goalkeeper. He has three years left on his contract with Liverpool, but he may need to seek opportunities elsewhere to get the regular playing time he deserves. It will be interesting to see if Spurs do sign him this summer, and how he adapts to his new environment.
