According to journalist Matt Law, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is currently facing difficulties managing the club’s affairs behind the scenes due to recent setbacks.
The 2023 season has been a difficult one for Spurs with the team struggling with inconsistent performances and a decline in form, resulting in their elimination from all competitions. The club also parted ways with their now-former manager Antonio Conte, who publicly criticised both the players and the owners, leading to his dismissal.
More recently, sporting director Fabio Paratici has stepped back from his role amidst an ongoing financial scandal, which has resulted in him receiving a global ban.
Levy has also yet to resolve the contract situation with star player Harry Kane, whose future at the club is uncertain, with interest from other top clubs such as Manchester United and Bayern Munich.
As a result, fans have become increasingly frustrated, with many calling for Levy and John Lewis to step down from their positions at the club.
Speaking on Matt Hayes’ YouTube channel, Law stated, “Look, in terms of him isolating himself, there’s been a massive change of heads of department over the last two years and going back from that, and it feels like he has less and less experienced people to lean on in these situations and to take charge of different departments and things.”
He added, “And I’ve had it said to me that he’s stretched all over the place because of this, and he’s listening to so many different voices, and the decision-making has become muddled. Now that’s just what’s been said to me.”
It is uncertain how Levy will respond to these challenges, but it is clear that the club needs to address the issues both on and off the pitch in order to move forward.
